No more booking Locks

12 May 2020 by Stephanie

NOTICE TO MARINERS

When our locks re opened in June we wanted to be sure we could safely operate and locks with boat owners adhering to social distancing, everyone feeling safe during the locking process and ensuring Locks would not become oversubscribed.

We therefore introduced a booking system limiting each lock to 60 metres of boat length per lock. The following week we increased to 70 metres and as each week has passed, we have been confident to increase this further.

We are now at the stage where we feel we can safely withdraw a booking system and boat owners can simply call us on VHF when they want to lock through.

Lockmasters will now monitor the number of boats entering each lock and will make a judgement as to when the lock is at safe capacity.

The lockmasters decision to limit the number of boats entering a lock will take in consideration the size of boats already secured in the lock along with number of persons on board each boat.

We believe this change will make it far easy to plan your trip.

We will continue to review the situation and any new Welsh Government guidance.

If you do not live in the local area and need us to check on your boats or if you have any other questions you can phone us on 07584 491945.

Over the last few weeks we have been looking after the Marina and helping to support the local community by carrying out local deliveries and supporting food banks. You can see more of what we have been up to on our Facebook page.
